The Long-Form Guides

Everything we would tell you across three meetings, in one page each.

Guides

Kitchen, Bathroom, Basement

These are the long ones. Each guide is everything we would tell you across three meetings, written down in one place so you can read it at eleven at night without booking anything or giving anybody your phone number.

They are written for the point in the process where you have decided you probably want to do the project but you do not yet know what you are agreeing to. What the work involves, what it costs here, what the sequence looks like, what tends to go wrong, and which decisions have to be made before demo rather than during.

If you read one of these and decide to hire somebody else, that is a fine outcome. You will hire them better.

Being Straight With You

The Other Guides Are In The Education Center

Three services have a long-form guide on this page. The rest are covered just as thoroughly in the Education Center, in more depth than one page could manage — so rather than publish thin versions here, this is where to go for each.

Whole home renovations

Five articles cover the planning, the order the work goes in, realistic timelines and what a whole-home project costs here. Start with how to plan a renovation or the correct order to renovate.

Home additions

Four articles, including a realistic budget for 2026, how long an addition takes and which additions actually add value. The cost page carries the foundation, engineering and utility numbers.

Why it is split this way

A guide is one long read. The Education Center answers one question at a time, which is usually what you actually want at eleven at night. If something you need is not covered, ask — if we get the question often we will write it up.

Common Questions

Questions We Get Asked

No. They are ordinary pages on this website. No gate, no form, no download, no follow-up sequence because you read a page.

Yes. Every figure and timeline in them is what we see here, not a national average scraped from somewhere else. Costs and permitting both vary enough by region that a generic guide is close to useless.

Whichever matches the room you are thinking about. If you are not sure which project you actually need, the Project Finder Quiz takes about a minute and is a better starting point than any of the guides.

They reflect what we are seeing and charging now. When our numbers move, these move with them — we would rather update a page than leave a figure up that we would not honor.
