The thing worth knowing before you look at any numbers: a bathroom is the most expensive room in a house per square foot. Not because contractors inflate them, but because you are putting tile, plumbing, glass, fixtures, waterproofing and very slow detailed labor into forty or fifty square feet. Everything happens in a space where two trades cannot work at once.
Most bathrooms here run three to six weeks and land between $30,000 and $40,000. Where yours sits depends mostly on tile, glass, and whether the plumbing stays where it is.

Most people come to us because they are unhappy with one specific thing — usually the shower, the tub or the vanity. The remodel grows from there. We do not take a bathroom to the studs unless there is a reason to, though when tile comes off, the drywall behind it goes with it.

The Most Expensive Room In The House, Per Square Foot
People assume a bathroom should be cheap because it is small. It is the opposite. A bathroom concentrates more high-cost work into less space than any other room in the house — tile, plumbing, glass, fixtures and slow, detailed labor, all inside forty or fifty square feet.
Tile — the biggest driver
Shower walls, shower floor, tub surround, bathroom floor, accent bands. It adds up faster than anything else in the room, and the labor is most of it, not the tile itself.
Frameless glass
Frameless enclosures are what most people want now. They are measured after the tile is set, custom cut, and priced by size and configuration.
Tubs and specialty fixtures
A freestanding or jetted tub alone often costs this much before anyone installs it. Custom vanities and high-end fixtures move the number similarly.
Moving plumbing
Expanding a shower, moving a toilet, adding a tub. Rarely the single largest line, but it adds complexity, inspections and time, and it pulls the whole budget up.
Do It Once, Properly
If there is any chance you will want a bigger shower, better tile, heated floors or upgraded fixtures, it is almost always cheaper to include them now than to come back for them. Redoing a bathroom you finished two years ago means tearing out tile and waterproofing that were perfectly good, and paying the labor twice.
The waterproofing point deserves saying on its own. It is the part nobody sees, it is the part that fails, and it is the part a cheap bid leaves out. A tiled shower without a proper membrane will look identical on handover day and cost you the whole room in four years.
How Long It Takes
Most bathroom remodels run three to six weeks. Scope, material availability and trade scheduling are what move it. Larger primary bathrooms, layout changes or specialty materials run longer. If it is your only full bathroom, plan for that — it is the question people forget to ask until demo day.

Yes, and it is usually the single biggest saving available. Leaving the toilet, sink and shower where they are avoids new drain lines, new supply runs and the inspections that come with them. If the layout genuinely works, keeping it puts that money into tile and fixtures instead.
Waterproofing behind the tile. It is invisible, it is where cheap bathrooms fail, and replacing a failed shower means tearing out everything you paid for. Second to that, ventilation — an undersized fan is why bathrooms grow mold and paint peels off ceilings.
